HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN ALL SIMPLYCITY… 

Un anniversaire tellement satisfaisant pour les danseurs!  

PIKNIC – SUDBEAT – CATTANEO SUNSET SESSION… 

En débutant, MERCI à l’ami Vishal, qui m’a demandé expréssément de mettre mes mots sur la soirée 😉 les voicis.

Alors ce vendredi le 13 sept 2024, SUDBEAT  a fait résonner Montreal Underground aux délicieuses rythmiques profondes et énergiques de la grande progressive house sud-américaine avec le Maestro Cattaneo lui-même au Piknic, et ensuite avec son dauphin et non moins grand maitre de la progressive depuis 30 ans, SimplyCity qui a livré une puissante performance au Stereo pour son anniversaire!

Les danseurs qui ont fait piknic ET Stereo on pu danser sur pres de 16h de label SUDBEAT, sans le réaliser. C’est pourquoi toute la nuit fut une continuité du jour, parfaitement fluide et sur le même courant d’amour, porté par l’Égrégore conscient de la bienveillance underground. L’Harmonie des foules était remarquable tout au long des pas de danse, et en général, c’était tres respectueux de l’environnement et de la vibe des danseurs. 

La conséquence merveilleuse est que  « Montreal Underground » a été alimenté par deux MAITRES qui ont délivrés chacun des performances impeccables et qui se classent dans les grands rassemblements des plus belles consciences et de la plus exquise humanité qui soit.

Je ne sais pas pour vous qui y étiez, mais ce fut un enchantement et un réel bonheur de vivre chaque instant du grand rendez-vous à Cattaneo, sous un soleil radieux, et avec une trame musicale absolument extraordinaire, qui a connecté, les milliers de gens présents à eux-mêmes, et au Grand Tout le temps de quelques moments de danse. Je le confirme : L’Égrégore Underground veillait sur chacun, et les connectait à eux-mêmes.

Partout Sous le regard, des visages heureux, libres! La gratitude et la bienveillance, le partage les sourires, qui se voyait partout autour de vous étaient radieux et sans conteste la plus belle preuve de cette communauté qui existe et se reconnaît sans nécessairement se connaitre.

Partout, il n’y avait que des gens heureux qui dansent et qui dansent leur vie sur les ondulations rythmiques induite par la musique progressive house du SUD!

je donne 10/10 à Cattaneo pour toute sa prestation au piknic qui était Synchro avec le coucher du soleil, toute la musique était en phase absolu avec cela, la puissance du son le côté, hypnotique, l’abandon du choix dans la musique, c’était spectaculaire

En plusieurs moments, je me suis dit que c’était là une parfaite manifestation de cette JOIE qui nous unit et nous fait sentir TEEEEEELLEMENT BIIEEEEEN!

À vous qui vivez un moment très intime avec vous-même, en étant plongée par la danse dans les plus grandes foules qui soient, rendez grâce de ce privilège immense que nous avons d’avoir à Montréal les conditions qui puissent permettre l’émergence de ces phénomène de communion collective qui nous marque chacun émotionnellement par leur perfection ! C’est une chance formidable que de pouvoir VIVRE cela, ne l’oubliez pas, car rien n’est acquis.

STEREO BIRTHDAYYYYYY

Donc, apres un merveilleux après-midi du vendredi 13 à danser au son du Maestro, il fallait logiquement poursuivre l’extase musicale sans rupture radicale, en allant retrouver le talent exceptionnel de ce DJ Montréalais qui a acquis une posture internationale en travaillant étroitement avec Cattaneo lui-même, entre autre sur son étiquette SUDBEAT.

En d’autres termes, pour ceux qui découvrent peut-être ce Dj, sachez que SIMPLY CITY publie et joue sa musique au travers le monde AVEC le label de Cattaneo, SUDBEAT.  C’est pour cela que si l’on ajoute ses dix heures de jeux aux six heures de Cattaneo, Montreal a donc eu droit 16h de l’esprit sud-américain de SUDBEAT ce vendredi 13 septembre, avec ses magnifiques structures progressives, longues et puissamment articulées.

C’est pourquoi à Stereo, nous avons bénéficié d’une extension du piknic en quelque sortes, et avons assisté à la quintessence d’un DJ mature et prêt, qui offre son meilleur de tout son talent, de toute ses expériences et aussi de toute son assurance et de SA posture à LUI, all night long. C’était SON anniversaire, mais c’est NOUS qu’il a gâté avec un sans faute !

Vous savez, Simply City est un dj vétéran de Montréal, qui oeuvre dans une immense humilité en effectuant de nombreuses ouvertures pour les plus grands dj de ce monde comme Cattaneo lui-même ou Digweed par exemple. Mais dans son rôle d’ouverture, jamais il ne donne toute la sauce, Puisqu’il ne fait  « que préparer » la salle pour l’invité, et cela demande un immense retenue et savoir-faire d’un dj pour bien faire une ouverture sans prendre la place…

Alors que localement il fait des ouvertures, ce gars joue aussi partout ailleurs dans le monde, il va en tournée avec Cattaneo au travers l’amérique du sud ou en Europe et il joue devant des foules immenses. Il a tout le nécessaire pour être LE dj, et vendredi soir fut tout à son honneur, simplement impeccable, et au-delà même, sur toute la ligne. 

Pour son anniversaire, il a donné toute sa puissance et toute la force que le progressif peut livrer dans une séquence parfaite de 10 heures, sans jamais perdre la rythmique ou la cohérence structurale des longs cycles, et cela est tout un art!

la majorité des gens avec qui j’ai dansé vendredi partageaient un moment de grâce entre eux, la musique et le moment qui ne s’invente pas.

Pour l’anecdote, la façon dont Simplycity à terminé sa nuit après un petit salut vers neuf heures du matin, tout en pointant le doigt en l’air pour dire  « encore une », ou  « un instant c’est pas fini… » et MY GOD que ce n’était pas fini! Ce fut la CRÈME de la nuit! 

Dans cette extension qui n’existait que par sa seule énergie, il a créé là quelque chose, un moment qui se qualifie pour entrer dans la catégorie des légendes de la nuit…

C’est dans cette dernière ligne musicale que son expérience, son absolue compréhension du moment, et sa maîtrise parfaite de la technique de la rythmique et du son a permis de rattraper, récupérer et envoyer encore plus haut les danseurs.

Chacune des pièces de sa dernière heure furent significatives et portaient un grand sens historique de toutes les époques de la musique. Et il les a jouées magistralement! Comme ÂME de REJ, OMG! ou THE END, des Doors !  

Ceux qui ont assisté jusqu’au bout à sa nuit comprendront en repensant à la toute dernière heure, combien elle était épique et hors du banal.

Suivez-moi…  selon ma conception de ce que nous appelons un maestro, dans notre culture underground, le titre de maestro apparaît non pas pour tenir une nuit, ou même pour avoir fait une performance remarquable. Non, ce titre se gagne et se mérite, il apparaît au fil des ans dans l’absolu maîtrise de la musique fondamentale, et d’un grand plan ponctué, souvent par de nombreuses variations et des reprises remarquables ou meme brutales exactement choisies, qui jouent avec l’esprit et la conscience du danseur pour le ramener en surface, et le replonger dans de longues séquences rythmiques sans interruptions. Il n’y a pas de coup de chance, tout est réfléchi et maitrisé, en avance! 

Le Maestro sait capturer l’esprit des danseurs et ne pas la perdre, pendant longtemps. Des heures idéalement… le maestro sait vous faire chuter jusqu’au presque abandon sonore, mais en vous rattrapant, sans jamais vous laisser tomber pour vous amener encore plus loin en vous.

Cattaneo est un maestro, Calderone aussi, Tenaglia, ils sont des génies du temps. //////

Au fil des heures s’installe une confiance entre le DJ et les danseurs qui savent qu’il les portera avec de la grosse base sale, et ainsi pousse le Danseur à s’abandonner complètement et délicieusement à son maître de cérémonie, qui le nourrit sans laisser tomber le rythme et la structure. 

C’est une symbiose entre le dj et chaque danseur de l’âme, lorsque s’établit cette confiance et abandon de la foule aux mains du DJ, qui peut le suivre pendant des heures, la magie absolue s’installe et la complicité devient incroyable entre les gens qui savent tous être là dans un moment qui n’existe pas.

Et c’est là, que les grands maitres se dévoilent par eux-même éventuellement…

Et vendredi soir, au cumul de toutes mes observations, j’oserais définitivement octroyer le titre de « Grand Maitre » à Simply City pour son excellence, et sa posture tres professionnelle derrière les tables, toujours calme, consciente, concentrée, tout en regardant la foule régulièrement, beau contact. 

Bien entendu, tout cela n’a pas la même force hypnotisante sans l’excellence des jeux de lumières qui remplissent l’espace comme de la matière organique. Bravo Luc pour ta diversité et ta maitrise de tes instruments à toi, avec lesquels tu sculptes l’espace comme de la magie. 

Beau travail de l’équipe d’entretien, pas de traineries excessives, plancher sans bouteilles, belle discipline des danseurs, pas de prédateurs, plutôt des beaux sourires échangés et énormément de complicité d’un bout à l’autre du plancher. 

La finale a créée un moment absolument mémorable pour ceux qui y étaient jusqu’au bout. Vous avez tout donné, en malade jusqu’au boute! C’est simple, à la finale je crois que tout le monde dansait avec tout le monde ! Juste délicieux! 

Stereo, tu étais MAGNIFIQUE pour la fête de Cesar Romero, merci!

SUDBEAT MONTREAL

To begin, THANK YOU to friend Vishal, who expressly asked me to put my words to the evening 😉 les voicis.

So this Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, SUDBEAT made Montreal Underground resonate to the deliciously deep and energetic rhythms of great South American progressive house with Maestro Cattaneo himself at Piknic, and then with his runner-up and no less great master of progressive for 30 years, SimplyCity who delivered a powerful performance at Stereo for his birthday!

The dancers who made it to Piknic AND Stereo could have danced to almost 16 hours of SUDBEAT, without realizing it. That’s why the whole night was a continuation of the day, perfectly fluid and on the same loving current, carried by the conscious Egregore of underground benevolence. Crowd harmony was remarkable throughout the dance steps, and in general, it was very respectful of the environment and the vibe of the dancers.

The wonderful consequence is that « Montreal Underground » was powered by two MASTERS who each delivered impeccable performances that rank among the great gatherings of the finest consciousness and most exquisite humanity there is.

I don’t know about you who were there, but it was an enchantment and a real pleasure to experience every moment of the great rendezvous at Cattaneo, under a radiant sun, and with an absolutely extraordinary musical backdrop, which connected the thousands of people present to themselves, and to the Great Whole for a few moments of dance.

Everywhere in sight, happy faces, freedom and joy! The gratitude and benevolence, the sharing and smiles, all around you, were radiant and without doubt the most beautiful proof of this community that exists and recognizes each other without necessarily knowing each other.

Everywhere, there were only happy people dancing and dancing their lives away to the rhythmic undulations induced by SUDBEAT’s music.

I give 10/10 to Cattaneo for his entire performance at the picnic, which was synchronic with the sunset, the whole music was in absolute phase with it, the power of the sound, the hypnotic edge, the abandonment of choice in the music, it was spectacular.

At several points, I said to myself : that this was a perfect manifestation of the joy that unites us.

you who are living a very intimate moment, immersed in the biggest crowds of all, give thanks for the immense privilege of having the conditions in place to allow the emergence of these phenomena, which emotionally mark each of us by their perfection.

Gratitude is the word.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN ALL SIMPLYCITY… 

A birthday so satisfying for the dancers! 

So, after a wonderful afternoon of Friday the 13th dancing to the sound of the Maestro, it was logical to continue the musical ecstasy without radical break, by going to find the exceptional talent of this Montreal DJ who has acquired an international position by working closely with Cattaneo himself, among others on his label SUDBEAT.

In other words, for those who may be discovering this DJ, you should know that SIMPLY CITY publishes and plays its music all over the world WITH Cattaneo’s label, SUDBEAT.  That’s why, if you add his ten hours of playing to Cattaneo’s six hours, Montreal was treated to 16 hours of SUDBEAT’s South American spirit on Friday, September 13, with its magnificent progressive structures, long and powerfully articulated.

That’s why at Stereo, we benefited from an extension of the piknic in some way, and witnessed the quintessence of a mature and ready DJ, who offers the best of all his talent, all his experiences and also all his confidence and HIS posture, all night long. It was HIS birthday, but it’s US that he spoiled with a flawless performance!

You know, Simply City is a veteran DJ from Montreal, who works with immense humility by opening for many of the greatest DJs in the world like Cattaneo himself or Digweed for example. But in his role as an opener, he never really gets into the swing of things, since « all he does is prepare » the room for the guest, and it takes immense restraint and know-how on the part of a dj to do a good opening without taking over the space…

While locally he does openings, this guy also plays everywhere else in the world, he goes on tour with Cattaneo across South America or Europe and he plays in front of huge crowds. He has everything necessary to be THE DJ, and Friday night was all to his credit, simply impeccable, and even beyond, all the way.

For his birthday, he gave all his power and all the strength that progressive music can deliver in a perfect 10-hour sequence, without ever losing the rhythmic or structural coherence of the long cycles, and that is quite an art!

Most of the people I danced with on Friday shared a moment of grace between themselves, the music and the moment, which can’t be invented.

For the record, the way Simplycity ended his night after a little greeting around nine in the morning, while pointing his finger in the air to say « one more », or « one moment it’s not over… » and MY GOD it wasn’t over! It was the CREAM of the night! 

In this extension that existed only trough his energy to keep going, he created something there, a moment that qualifies to enter the category of legends of the night… 

It is in this last musical line that his experience, his absolute understanding of the moment, and his perfect mastery of the technique of rhythm and sound allowed him to catch up, recover and send the dancers even higher. 

Each of the pieces of his last hour were significant and carried a great historical sense of all the eras of music. And he played them masterfully! Like ME by REJ, OMG! or THE END, by the Doors! 

Those who witnessed his night to the end will understand, looking back on the very last hour, how epic and out of the ordinary it was.

Follow me… according to my conception of what we call a maestro, in our underground culture, the title of maestro appears not for lasting a night, or even for having given a remarkable performance. No, this title is earned and deserved, it appears over the years in the absolute mastery of the fundamental music, and of a great shot punctuated, often by numerous variations and remarkable or even brutal repeats exactly chosen, which play with the dancer’s mind and consciousness to bring him back to the surface, and plunge him back into long rhythmic sequences without interruptions. There’s no such thing as a fluke: everything is thought out and mastered in advance!

The Maestro knows how to capture the spirit of the dancers and not lose it, for a long time. Hours, ideally… the maestro knows how to make you fall to the point of almost giving up, but catching you, never letting you fall, to take you even further inside.

Cattaneo is a maestro, Calderone too, Tenaglia, they are geniuses of time. //////

As the hours go by, a trust is built up between the DJ and the dancers, who know that he will carry them along with a heavy, dirty base, and thus push the Dancer to abandon himself completely and deliciously to his master of ceremonies, who feeds him without letting rhythm and structure down. It’s a symbiosis between the DJ and each soul dancer, and when this trust and abandonment of the crowd into the hands of the DJ, who can follow them for hours, is established, absolute magic sets in and the complicity becomes incredible between people who all know they’re there in a moment that doesn’t exist.

And it’s here that the great masters eventually reveal themselves…

And on Friday evening, taking all my personnal observations + the after party discussions we had about it into account, I would definitely award the title of « Grand Master » to Simply City for its excellence, and its very professional posture behind the tables, always calm, aware, concentrated, while regularly looking out at the crowd, beautiful contact. That’s why he never lost the connexion.

The final was an absolutely memorable moment for those who were there right to the end. You gave it your all, sick to death! Quite simply, at the finale I think everyone was dancing with everyone! And when the all dancefloor sang « Happy Birthday Cesar » Just delicious!

Of course, none of this would have the same hypnotic force without the excellent lighting effects that fill the space like organic matter. Bravo Luc for your diversity and your mastery of your own instruments, with which you sculpt space like magic.

Great work by the maintenance team, no excessive dragging, a bottle-free floor, great discipline from the dancers, no predators, rather beautiful smiles exchanged and a great deal of complicity from one end of the floor to the other.

Stereo, you were MAGNIFICENT for Cesar Romero’s BD party, thank you!
